On Sunday at Orsières everything seemed sweet.
I had walked the first few kilometres towards Bourg-St-Pierre snd everything felt good.
On arrival at the hostel on Sunday afternoon I encountered Maria. We agreed to walk together on Monday and that we would leave about 05h to minimise exposure to the high 20c temperatures expected on Moonday
We did leave just after 05h. And I quickly felt out of sorts and struggling to keep up. We walked well past my reconnoitre point of last night. I then told Maria of my decision to turn back and we parted company.
As I write this I have booked my return flight to London and will soon begin the journey back to Geneva airport. And as soon as will get my flights home sorted.
